The Board of the Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG) has ratified the appointment of Tosin Akeredolu as the Acting Executive Director of the organisation.
The decision was taken on Friday, March 6, 2026, during the society’s physical board meeting held at Mahogany Hotel and Suites, Jericho Ibadan where members deliberated on key strategic and administrative issues aimed at strengthening the operations of the copyright collective management organisation.
The ratification followed deliberations by the board under the agenda item on the appointment process for an Executive Director, one of the major items considered during the meeting.
With the approval, Akeredolu is expected to oversee the day-to-day administration of the society in acting capacity while coordinating programmes and initiatives designed to deepen licensing operations, expand copyright advocacy and strengthen the institutional framework of REPRONIG.
Board members noted that the appointment reflects the organisation’s confidence in Akeredolu’s intellectual depth, administrative capacity, professional dynamism and strategic insight in the fields of publishing, copyright administration and digital systems management.
Akeredolu is widely regarded as a vibrant and forward-thinking professional whose work has contributed to conversations on digital transformation, knowledge management and sustainable development within the publishing and copyright ecosystem.
His colleagues also describe him as innovative, result-oriented and deeply committed to strengthening systems that protect the rights of authors and publishers.
He holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Ekiti State University. He is currently undertaking a Senior Management Programme at the Lagos Business School as part of efforts to further strengthen his executive leadership and management capacity.
Akeredolu has participated in several international and national professional engagements, including the Istanbul International Book Fair, the WIPO-IFRRO reprography project in Harare, Zimbabwe, the Nigerian Publishers’ Association annual conference, workshops of the National Library of Nigeria on ISSN/ISBN and legal deposit compliance, as well as licensing workshops organised by the Nigerian Copyright Commission in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization.
He currently serves as Head of Licensing at REPRONIG, where he has been actively involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening copyright licensing structures and improving awareness of reprographic rights among stakeholders in the education and publishing sectors.

During the meeting, the board also considered and approved several key policy and operational issues, including the adoption of the REPRONIG Strategic Plan as the organisation’s operational roadmap, the ratification of the engagement of a consultant to develop a sustainable revenue model through a national licensing drive in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, and the proposed development of a Digital Rights Management System to support licensing operations and royalty administration.
Other matters discussed included the framework for the distribution of copyright levy to rights holders, the establishment of an operational office and administrative structure for the organisation, and strategic initiatives to strengthen copyright advocacy through programmes such as National Book Awards and University Awards for Literacy Development.
The meeting concluded with board members reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the institutional capacity of REPRONIG and enhancing collaboration with stakeholders across the education, publishing and copyright sectors in Nigeria.
